At Lawton Tubes, we have a deep appreciation for activists who are working hard to make the world a better place. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our endorsement of the Frank Bruno Foundation, a charity that’s fighting back against mental health stigma and helping people to stay in work.
The Frank Bruno Foundation
The foundation was started by none other than former World Heavyweight Champion, Frank Bruno. He’s faced challenges both in and out of the ring, but has always approached them with determination, dignity, and humility.
Whilst writing and promoting his recent autobiography, Frank has discovered the power of talking and sharing his experiences. Not only has it enabled him to help others, but it’s also empowered him to accept his own previous mental health challenges.
Throughout his time as a public speaker, Frank has spoken openly about how exercise has played a vital role throughout his life, both during his training as a professional boxer and more recently in his battle with mental health challenges, and that’s where the Frank Bruno Foundation comes in. The foundation provides a safe environment for young people with mental health issues, as well as a programme for older people who need help managing their mental health whilst continuing to work. We understand how important good mental health is to our colleagues and their families, and are excited to back the growth of Frank’s initiative.
Lawton Tubes’ chosen charity
Supporting this amazing cause was an easy decision for Lawton Tubes. In our outreach work with the plumbing and installer communities, we have grown to truly understand the importance of mental health and the need to raise awareness, particularly for those in a trade. Frank’s mission aligns perfectly with our commitment to making a positive impact on the community and helping those in work.
So far this year, our staff have already raised over £2000 in funds to support the foundation and are now committing to continue the good work, making the Frank Bruno Foundation our chosen charity of 2023.
Vital support programmes
This means we’ll be able to keep supporting the foundation’s fantastic work. They provide direct support to participants, developing self-esteem, confidence, resilience, and discipline, and enabling them to apply these essential skills to their everyday lives.
The Round by Round programme, is an 8-week wellbeing and non-contact boxing programme complemented by a need-led wrap around support service. It is designed for individuals aged 13 years and above, with an early assessment-led intervention available for children as young as 10 years old.
The Stay in Work Scheme aims to help those facing mental health difficulties to continue with work and prevent long-term illness.
The Wrap Around Service seeks to understand and address the issues being faced by an individual, manage the programme, and maintain contact after the programme has ended.
InstallerSHOW 2023
As a supplier to the plumbing, heating and ACR industries, Lawton Tubes is keen to use our platform to spread the good news about the Frank Bruno Foundation, which is why we’re honoured to have Frank join our stand at the 2023 InstallerSHOW in June.
He’ll be promoting awareness of the fantastic work his charity does and even announcing the winner of our Plumbers’ Plumber of the Year award!
(By the way, if you haven’t already made your award nomination, you can do so here until 31st May 2023)
We’re incredibly excited to support this amazing foundation. Our shared values have the potential to make a real difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health issues. We hope that partnership with the Frank Bruno Foundation reflects our commitment to not only making a positive impact on the environment but also on the community, and eagerly look forward to sharing more information about our plans soon…
